The minimalist transition planner

Decades of cushioned shoes do not undo in a fortnight. This planner takes your weekly routine and how minimal your current footwear already is, and grades a path over 8 to 12 weeks: how much of your activity time to spend in minimal shoes each week, what foot homework to do alongside, and what to watch for.

The slow ramp is the whole point: a published imaging study of runners who transitioned over just ten weeks found early bone stress reactions in the feet of those who pushed too fast. Repeat weeks freely; the plan has no deadline.

What are you transitioning?
Your current footwear, honestly

More cushioning history means a longer plan: 12 weeks from cushioned, 10 from mixed, 8 from mostly flat.

Before week one: know your starting point.

The foot strength self-check takes a few minutes and tells you whether your balance, calves and toes are ready for the ramp, or need a head start.
